Inspiring Quotes: When Words can be More than Words

Most of us have life mottos that we like to live by, a sort of inspiration to be that better person, or maybe just a motto to get us through everyday life or tough times. Great thinkers before us have shared classic inspirational quotes that will resonate through time, a visionary quote that gives us all that glint of life. Gandhi, Ralph Waldo Emerson (a personal favorite of mine), Albert Einstein, Confucius, Thomas Jefferson, the list could go on for days of great thinkers that have given us words to live by.

Words of inspiration can take us many places. They can evoke in us an awakening to be a better person or enthuse a new direction in life; spark a change. They may help us get through times that seem like an unbearable slump we will never escape from or teach us to love, be happy with what we have, and just appreciate yourself and the earth that you came from. To be able to share a quote that you believe in, a quote that drives you and inspires positivity; to be able to share that with another person is something special, especially when it touches them in a way that births new thoughts or a new way of life.

It was brought to my attention that the Know Cancer website had a spot on the member homepage to submit your own inspirational quote.  I was a bit surprised because this is something that I never noticed but felt like it was an important part of the website I should be in touch with. It was something I had simply gazed over in passing without further investigation. It turns out that there have been personal and borrowed quotes flooding in; sayings that mean something to the individual and should be shared with everyone. I was taken aback by my immersion into the warmth of inspiration when reading what was sent in. It deeply interested me what the reasons were behind choosing these sayings.

I was curious where your experiences had taken you and what that quote represents in your life. These are some of the submitted quotes that touched me, and have the ability to affect others.

"The question is not whether we will die, but how we will live." – Joan Borysenko

"The world we have created is a product of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking." – Albert Einstein

None of us will ever accomplish anything excellent or commanding except when he listens to the whisper which is heard by him alone.  – Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists" -Unknown

"A true friend knows your weaknesses but shows you your strengths; feels your fears but fortifies your faith; sees your anxieties but frees your spirit; recognizes your disabilities but emphasizes your possibilities."  -William Ward

"If you don't try, you've ALREADY failed." -Unknown

"Dare to be what you ought to be; dare to be what you dream to be; dare to be the finest you can be. The more you dare, the surer you will be of gaining just what you dare." -N. V. Peale

When nothing is certain, everything is possible!"- Sean Lewis Robins

“When things seem impossible to overcome or achieve, I just remind myself that not trying automatically makes me a loser.  It inspires me to just keep trying, just keep going.”

My hope is that you were able to welcome these quotes into your life and use them as you please. Some may be more meaningful to you than others, and the ones that are heartfelt to you should be shared with others so that it may be able to bring something into their lives. To all of you that have taken the time and read this blog, taken the time and read each quote; I’m curious to know which one of them means something to you? Does one speak to you more than the others, and why is that? Let’s hear what you have to say, I want to know why a particular quote drives you. As said by Ralph Nichols, "The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them." So this is your stage, let’s hear what you have to say.
