Choosing wellness and nutrition: what to know
Wellness and nutrition providers include dietitians, nutritionists and fitness professionals. Cancer and its treatment can affect appetite, taste and weight, and good nutrition helps people get through treatment.
Registered dietitians (RD or RDN) have a nationally recognized credential; many cancer centers have oncology dietitians. Check any supplement plan with your oncologist.
Questions to ask
- Are you a registered dietitian, and do you have oncology experience?
- Will you coordinate with my care team?
- Do they accept my insurance or Medicare, and what will I pay out of pocket?
