OBJECTIVES:

- To determine whether clonally expanded somatic mitochondrial DNA mutations are
associated with acute myeloid leukemia.

OUTLINE: Genomic DNA from blood samples obtained at diagnosis, remission, and relapse are
analyzed for mitochondrial DNA mutations via PCR.
