Asked November 14, 2009
August 2008 my husband was diagnosed with myleodysplasia del Q 5. Two months of revlimid, didnt work. 6 months of decibene. yesterday after a bone marrow, he was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Over the last several months hes been hospitalized about 4 or 5 times mostly due to feavers and BOOP. He also has an actifical heart valve , which is working wonderfully. No problems with the heart. Our question is whats next? Our doc says there is other chemo treatments, but seems hesitant, what about these biologics? Please advise
Expert answer
Hi,
Sorry to hear about the formation of AML, but there are biologic targeted therapies available such as Mylotarg. Others are being developed in clincial trials - consider that as well as a possiblility.
