What are your recommendations for follicular lymphoma?

Asked November 10, 2009

I'm 46, in good heath otherwise, had no symptoms other than pain from the tumor area, and had rhs hemi-colonectomy this June. The tumor was a combo of lower and aggressive NHL, stage IE, grade III follicular lymphoma. Without treatment CT, PET, bone marrow biopsy all clear. The recommendations is R-CHOP. Why not watch and wait given no cancer in tests? Agree?

Expert answer

Hi,
I Agree with the decision to treat with chemotherapy using R-CHOP.
A grade III follicular lymphoma behaves aggressively as another disease called Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL). Talk to your Doctor about the risks and benefits of chemotherapy and the chances of placing your disease in remission.
Thanks,
