My 75 year old mother has just had uterine cancer progress to peritoneal carcenomitosis and that is terminal. Has anything been found to slow the effects of this cancer stopping the intestines from progressing with the cancer? Is the end result when the stomache and intestines stop so the person eventually dies from continuous throwing up? How long does it take? Is someone feel hunger as they basically starve to death? Can you thnik of anything so horrible that to waste away as you are starving to death?
Expert answer
Hi, sorry to hear about your mom. There are things that can be done such as hormone therapy or chemotherapy or a combination of both that are able to tolerate such treatments. Talk to your doctor about tamoxifen to see if that is appropriate for her. Sometimes surgery can be useful or therapy using heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) may be another possibility as well - although it may be experimental. Ask your doctor about clinical trials as well as there may be some close to where you live.
Hope this helps,
