My dad, 63 years old, a former smoker was recently diagnosed with left lobe lung cancer that spread to his brain/metastasis. We've, me and my siblings, have been given very little information because my Dad doesn't want us to know or seee him in his condition. I do know it's inoperable and that he's been given radiation and 2 rounds of chemo. Is there a time line on something like this? I'm hoping so and that maybe once he comes to grips with his disease and the finality of it all that maybe he'll change his mind and let us be a part of this time in his life.

Expert answer

Hi, It's very hard to say what the time line is for something like this without knowing the details of his case. Without treatment most patients may not survive a year. Treatment will likely extend his survival beyond that barring no complications. Talk to him about his situation and he may open up to you and your sibling when he is ready.
