Is there a possibility my mom's skin discoloration could be cancer?

I am 14 years old. My mom went about 8 months ago for her annual pap test. The doctor seemed concerned about a discolorations of the lips of her vagina. She put a cream for about 6 weeks and went back for a pap test. The doctor suggested she get a biopsy done as quickly as possible the only next appointment was July 7th 2009. Is there a possibility it is cancer?

This is a very difficult question to answer with the limited info and lack of visualization of the lesion. However if the doctor recommended biopsy, the possibility of cancer must be on the list.
