Is there any correlation between swollen lymph node or elevated ANA levels to breast cancer?
Asked May 17, 2011
I have had swollen lymph node now nodes in a breast in addition to elevated ANA levels 1:160. Is there any correlation between either or both to breast cancer?
Expert answer
Hi, to the best of my knowledge there has been no correlation of an elevated ANA to breast cancer. The ANA can be elevated for multiple reasons such as certain infections from bacteria to autoimmune diseases such as lupus. The only correlation to cancer is in the setting of autoimmune diseases and lymphoma, and the ANA is not necessarily elevated in all autoimmune diseases. Have your breasts examined carefully by your doctor in addition to your lymph nodes. Hope this helps & let us know what they find.
