Could this be another recurrance of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma?
Asked November 10, 2009
I was diagnosed with Stage II Invasive Ductal Carcinoma at age 31 and again at 33. I had a bilateral mastectomy followed by a lumpectomy for the recurrence. No radiation, chemo or tamoxifen. Now at 35, the doctor found a uterine polyp along with multiple cysts on my ovaries. I have been having irregular menstrual cycles, excessive and unexplained weightloss and enlarged lymph nodes. Could this be another recurrence?
Expert answer
Hi,
Its hard to tell what is going on based on the limited information but I would strongly suggest close follow up with your Doctor regarding the results of the polyp on your uterus and the enlarged lymph nodes. Ovarian cysts can be benign but you may need further testing for BRCA mutations if ovarian cancer is suspected. Breast cancer and Ovarian cancer are connected in this manner.
