Hello,
My father has been diagnosed with angiosarcoma. It has developed in the pelvic bone. He has not got results back from mri,ct scan, etc. but there is only one doctor in the Richmond area that specializes in this type of cancer...is this always the case?
Expert answer
Hi, sorry to hear about your dad. This is a rare cancer that most doctors have never seen. There are not much data available on how to best treat it and most doctors will often refer their patients to a center where research is being done on this cancer. If it has not spread then a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation can be applied. If it has spread all over then chemotherapy remains the only option. Ask you doctor about clinical trials and a if your dad is appropriate for it.
Thanks for your question - let us know how it goes.
