Oncologists are doctors who study, diagnose, and treat cancer. These special doctors practice at a variety of medical centers, university hospitals, and research facilities. Many oncologists specialize in a particular type of cancer or cancer treatment. For example, medical oncologists specialize in the treatment of cancer with chemotherapy (the use of chemical agents, or drugs, to kill cancer cells).
