Know Me
Life is a journey, not a destination. We all have trials and tribulations along our path. We cannot control whether we get cancer, or whether we'll survive it, but we can choose to not allow it to take away our Spirit.
People often say "Stop and smell the roses". I think the most important thing is being willing to smell the rose even if it pricks you. Remaining positive and allowing yourself the time and space to heal; being willing to take chances and risks makes the difference of how WELL you've lived your life; not how LONG.
Breast cancer--Ductal carcinoma in Situ stage 0. Only 2 more years before being pronounced "Cured", but I feel certain that they got it all and I'm fine. I lost my right nipple which was difficult emotionally and messed with my self esteem for awhile, but in the scheme of things, I could have lost one or both of my breasts or even my life, so I eventually gained some perspective and got a hold on my negativity.
More Fun Stuff
Everyone and anyone who tends to try to look for the positive in everything. Non-judgmental, open-minded, caring & COOL!
I'm a 3 year breast cancer survivor. But my niece is currently fighting Hodgkins Lymphoma, and she asked me to join this site/group to better understand what she's going thru and how to handle my own feelings about it, and talk with others experiencing the same things.
Not one of us is getting out of this world alive.
We ALL must die, its only a matter of when & how. Live every day as if its your last, whether you have cancer or not. You could survive the most horrendous cancer battle only to triumphantly stand and walk out of the hospital and be killed by a bus.
Don't focus on your cancer, focus on looking ahead. When you're feeling particularly discouraged, think of someone who has it worse than you and try to find something positive to do for someone else. Day by day, sometimes minute by minute, just keep trying.
If you don't try- you've ALREADY failed!
